A short drive out of Laramie , we booked a table in advance, by email and were pleased when it was accepted within minutes. We arrived and were shown straight to our table, declining the opportunity and time to have a drink in the bar.
The restaurant is steeped in history and clearly a favorite with many locals, but knowing we were tourists, the staff and owner took delight in telling us a little of the history of the building, and of course the menu! Fantastic service, which we cannot fault. A typical American menu with, as expected the emphasis on local produce and excellent steaks! Steak had to be the natural choice and our bison rib eyes were just perfect. We had a great meal, and cannot hesitate to recommend that anyone visiting Laramie makes this your first place stop for dinner. But book!…. Loved it, and would love to return – great service, food and venue.”

We went to the UW game and decided to grab a bite to eat before heading back to Casper, found The Cavalryman and decided to try it out. The staff were extremely nice, and our service was good even though it was a game day and they were busy. They bring you soda bread which is delicious. My brother and I both ordered the country fried steak from Falkenburg Ranch; it was excellent, we got steamed vegetables with it which were fresh and I got a baked sweet potato. I will definitely be going back when I transfer down to UW.”

We dined at the Cavalryman on a Friday evening and it was moderately busy, but the noise level from the many families dining was comfortable. Service was great and the steaks were delicious, though I’d recommend ordering medium if you normally order medium rare. Believe the menu instructions! I thought the meal was a very good value and would definitely return.

After 20 some years of visiting Laramie we swung by the Cavalryman so that my husband could see what it was all about. We just wanted a quick drink and to take a look and the entire staff was more than kind and accommodating.
Ken gave us the 25 cent tour and shared the local history of Ft. Sanders. We had drinks and some of the most wonderful beef that was prepared to perfection. Even the hamburger far surpassed any that we have had and I would recommend it to everyone! The Cavalryman certainly isn’t the frumpy restaurant of the past. The staff and the food could compete anywhere! Great job, thank you for adding much more than history to the area!

We ate here on vacation about 15 years ago so decided to try it again. We have been on the road 3 weeks so we are getting a bit picky. The steak melts in your mouth!!!! Both our meals were so good and the margarita was the best I have had in a while!! Don’t miss this place. Service was excellent.
